TuYo Theatre, the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, and The Lark Play Development Center are thrilled to announce the creation of The San Diego/Tijuana Playwright Exchange, an extension of the Lark’s México/U.S. Playwright Exchange in New York City. It is an initiative that brings Tijuana based playwrights to San Diego, and U.S. translating playwrights to Tijuana in a shared artistic process aimed at creating deeper understanding between our cultures. Our inaugural festival, hosted by Cygnet Theatre, The Old Globe in San Diego and the C.E.C.U.T. in Tijuana, will feature two new translations of plays from Mexico. Now more than ever, we are proud to celebrate and share these stories!

Saturday, March 16th, 3pm – The Old Globe’s Hattox Hall (San Diego)

Sunday, March 17th, 5pm – El CECUT (Tijuana)

Sunday, March 17th, 7pm – El CECUT (Tijuana)

CONEJOS EN EL VALLE DE LA MUERTE / RABBITS IN THE VALLEY OF DEATH

by Daniel Serrano, translated by Mariana Carreño King

directed by Mariana Carreño/Bernardo Mazón

with Javier guerrero, Bernardo Mazón, Robert Malave

This award-winning play places Renato, Mario and Gerardo in a world where it is legal to medically transfer an illness from one body to another. One friend approves of this practice of transferencia, another doesn’t. Something unexpected happens that calls into question love, friendship and humanity.
