TuYo Theatre continues to grow and tell Latine stories and uplift Latine artists and their community. This year, we have continued to produce provocative and significant productions, we have also focused on creating initiatives that celebrate not only what our artists can do today, but the future they are already beginning to shape.

As Teaching Artist Valeria Vega shared:

"I had the profound honor of serving as a teaching artist with TuYo during its Uniendo residency at Casa Familiar. Each class became a space of joy and intention—where community gathered to share stories, spark meaningful conversations, and create together. Most powerfully, it was an opportunity to connect our multigenerational community to the transformative force of theatre, and to witness how it brings people together in deeply human and lasting ways."

TuYo continues to expand in its education initiative and cultural stories. In 2025, we opened Uniendo, our first educational program in collaboration with Mosaic Theatricals. We provided programming to 6 institutions in the South Bay that focused on bringing together youth and seniors using theatre and art to explore different topics like resilience and perseverance. This summer, we are expanding our outreach to the youth in our community by producing a Youth Cabaret, where we will provide youth with a series of theatrical workshops and culminate in a cabaret presentation showcasing the students' talents.

Additionally, this fall we will be debuting a new world premiere by a San Diego local Playwright: Our Lady of the San Diego Convention Center by Mario Vega. This story focuses on the stories of the unaccompanied migrant children who came to San Diego in 2020. This production will invite audiences to have conversations about not just migration, but the consequences of borders on children and our responsibility to take care of each other.

Our individual donors are our greatest support in making these essential artistic projects happen. Whether it is a one-time gift or becoming a TuYo Champion and contributing monthly, your donation could greatly help our company keep building these initiatives and telling these stories, as well as support the artists telling the stories and leading the initiatives:

  • A $25 gift could sponsor a young artist to attend a musical theatre workshop

  • A $50 gift can buy tech meals for TuYo artist during a long tech day

  • A $100 supports the purchase of a costume for a character in a production

  • A $1000 you could be the patron of an actor in Our Lady of the San Diego Convention Center

Thank you for supporting and contributing to elevating Latine artists.

Make A One Time Gift: Latine Stories Belong on San Diego Stages–Help Keep Them Here.

TuYo Theatre ensures Latine voices are seen, heard, and celebrated in San Diego. But with shrinking federal arts funding and accessible ticketing that keeps ticket revenue low, TuYo relies on donors to keep the lights on. Your support today keeps Latine stories alive on stage tomorrow.
